"Homeland" Family Market

“Homeland” Family Market 2024: Family is where Love is and always Family First

Organized by Hong Kong Family Welfare Society, in collaboration with the market organizer LIFE MART and illustrator Venus Philosophy, the "Homeland" Family Market 2024 was successfully held at PMQ, Central, from May 25th to 26th! Fortunately, the weather was beautiful, and the two-day event attracted over 2,800 members of the public, creating a lively atmosphere.

We were honored to invite Ms. Wendy Chow Fung-mui, Assistant Director (Family and Child Welfare) of the Social Welfare Department, and Dr. Kay Lam Chi-yan, Convenor of the Sub-committee on Family Support of the Family Council, as the guests of honor for the opening ceremony, marking the beginning of the entire event. Subsequently, Dr. Arnold C. S. Cheng, Vice Chairman of HKFWS’s Executive Committee, Mrs. Yvonne Hariman, Officer of HKFWS’s Executive Committee, Ms. Cecilia W.Y. Lau, Officer of HKFWS’s Executive Committee, Ms. Sylvia W. Y. Siu, JP, Vice-chairperson of 75th Anniversary Organising Committee and Ms. Kitty Chau, Chief Executive of HKFWS, presented the certificate of appreciation to other guests and service users, expressing our gratitude for the support from all sectors.

Throughout the two-day event, many parents attended with their children, and the "Homeland" Family Market provided various elements to meet the unique needs of different family members. For example, there was a children's activity area where kids could participate in fun and educational workshops, allowing parents to seize the opportunity to enjoy some "Me Time" by exploring the market, discovering their favorite handmade products, or enjoying live music performances.

On the other hand, to capture beautiful memories for families, there were two areas: the "Quick Sketching Portrait Studio" and the "Instant Family Photo Booth." These areas used digital illustrations and instant photography to capture the warmth and smiles among the family members. The "Smiley Family Stories" Exhibition located on the ground floor, exhibited family stories shared by the public and stall vendors, leading everyone to reflect on their own connections with their families. Adjacent to it was the "Family Wellbeing Praying Corner," where many visitors wrote their wishes on Ema (votive tablets) and hung them on the praying stand, hoping for blessings for their families.

As one of the key events of Family Month, our agency aims to engage with a wider range of age groups through this weekend market, which combines shopping and entertainment elements in a down-to-earth manner. While promoting "Family Wellbeing," we are also committed to practicing the concept of "Family First," encouraging everyone to cherish their families, enjoy their holidays, and create quality family time together.

“Family is where Love is,” and always “Family First.”

We would like to see you again in the "Homeland" Family Market next year!
