Youth Services

We help young people overcome problems which may hinder their psychosocial development, and to facilitate their personal growth and potential development, and to support youth at risk or in disadvantaged circumstances. Special programmes are tailored to address the parenting issues to promote harmonious family and interpersonal relationship.

ATAA Jockey Club Tseung Kwan O Youth Square is our Integrated Children and Youth Service Centre (ICYSC) situated in Tseung Kwan O. We provide school-based stationing service and a variety of service projects to kindergartens, primary and secondary schools.Our Peaceful Conflict Resolution Service aims at strengthening adolescents’ ability in resolving interpersonal disputes in a peaceful and constructive way, and building up a positive non-violence culture in the school and community through launching the "Peer Mediation Project", "Peace and Mediation"; Education Series, "Life Cycle Mediation Project" and "Help Increase Peace Programme" in different schools and the community.Adolescent Mental Health provides a series of specifically designed preventive educational programmes and activities on improving the mental wellness by addressing adolescents’ developmental needs, as well as strengthening their support networks and systems to foster their holistic health."Net" Education and Counselling Service addresses the problems that have arisen due to the increasing popularity of the internet such as internet addiction, cyber bullying, the online generation gap, the spread of inappropriate content, and smartphone overuse.Service for Special Education Need (SEN) helps students with special education need facilitate their school adjustment and personal growth.

Fun Conflict Resolution – Peer Mediation Project

The Hong Kong Family Welfare Society has always believed that addressing conflicts from both sides to achieve mutual understanding and compromise is an important foundation for building a harmonious society and is also the direction of "Mediation Education" work. Young people face familial and social challenges during their growth, particularly in parent-child relationships and interactions at school. This project aims to cultivate good character in secondary school students, equipping them with a positive attitude, knowledge, and skills to resolve conflicts and thus establish good interpersonal relationships. It also provides educational and support services for parents and teachers to raise awareness of mediation concepts and foster a harmonious culture within schools.

Project Objectives

  1. Provide mediation promotion and educational activities for all students, parents, and teachers to enhance their understanding of interpersonal communication, emotional management, and conflict resolution, and to establish positive values.
  2. Provide peer mediation training for students from Form 3 to Form 5, strengthening their mediation knowledge and skills to resolve interpersonal conflicts in a constructive and peaceful manner.
  3. Provide mediation training workshops for teachers and school social workers to enhance their ability to handle conflict cases using mediation concepts and to promote a harmonious culture within the school.

Project Delivery

Peer mediation training for secondary school students, training for teachers and social workers, workshops on mediation topics, mediation booth games, interactive art exhibits, experiential learning workshops (such as role-playing), board games.

Project Characteristics

  • Promote mediation education through artistic and technological media to enhance students' interest in learning.
  • Utilize interactive experiential activities to deepen the practical application of mediation knowledge.
  • Promote parenting education - encouraging adolescents to co-lead harmonious parent-child relationships with their parents.
  • Establish the concept of a "Mediation School" to foster a harmonious culture and support within the school.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among teachers, social workers, and peer mediators to advance the development of mediation education.
